Mealtimes at school

This I am worried about, too. Maggie spends so much time talking, my guess is, she'll forget to eat. For camp, I would label each item with the enzyme dose I thought she would need for it, so Maggie could choose what she wanted to eat. Also, Maggie eats many, salty pretzels throughout the day. Our CF doc actually wrote in a letter to the school she should have access to salty snacks after exersize and has an increase need for calories...So, I hope they will allow her to have a salty pretzel snack and drink in addition to other snack times. Lately my secret weapon has been those 6 pack cookie packs of oreos(not healthy )but she'll eat the whole thing in one sitting.

Guess I hadn't even considered the idea of allowing him to get snacks during the day. Was thinking that would be singling him out as being different...

Liza,
I would be surprised if they didn't have a snack time in his school at his age. Kayla and Hannah's school had snacks (supplied by the school) from pre-k thru First grade.
I, too, didn't want the girls to be singled out, so that is why they were going to leave the classroom for snacks. But, instead, the teachers decided to allow snacks for the whole class. It has helped out tremendously<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
Talk to your little guys teacher, I bet you can work something out that works for both him and the classroom...

Liza,
I don't think letting him have a snack would make him different. Having helped out in my son, without CF , class, there are so many kids with their own needs. One girl, has spina bifida..uses braces. One kid has asthma. Another severe allergies. Some kids need extra help for reading or math. I have found my son's class to be so sweet and supportive. He will enter 5th grade in the fall and I haven't been aware of too much teasing , maybe one kid this year that was socially awkward. but we used that as a lesson in kindness.
