So I was thinking or wondering if it would be a good idea to wear one especially since I have CFRD... This came to me the other night when I was having a horrible low and felt like I was gonna pass out...What if I did how would someone know I was diabetic and more importantly have CF and am allergic to tons of medications! I do carry a chart in my wallet of what I am on in terms of meds and what I am allergic too but I am wondering if I should wear a braclent that said CF and Diabetes and look in wallet!!!!

Anyone wear one? Where do you get a nice gold one? I would want a real nice one if I was gonna wear it all the time, real 14k gold type bracelet.

Opinions and suggestions welcomed!
Thanks

I have one.
It lists my name, bleeding disorder and bronchiectasis. I donno if an EMT would know what the latter is, but I am hoping it will keep them from wasting time looking for a gastro source to the blood. In the past, I had to explain that was not the case...but what if I couldn't talk?
Anyway, this is the one I got. Several years ago it came w/o the heart and was a little cheaper. I picked the engraved but no color label so it would be more subtle.

Hello Jennifer, I have been wearing one since my diabetes became insulin dependent. Here in New Zealand we have to pay an annual renewal fee of $30 to update our membership. Your thread reminds me that my membership is due to expire, must get on to it! We have the choice of a bracelet or pendant.

Wearing the ID bracelet gives me peace of mind, should anything go amiss. Good luck with your decision.

Cheers Eileen.<img src="i/expressions/sun.gif" border="0">

That's a good question and topic. I have often wonder with Mak just being a child, and having so many problems. Seems as if the CF Clinics would of thought of something like that. I always forget to ask them , but, I will try to remember next time.
Thanks for bringing this up,karla<img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Zoe has worn one since she was diagnosed. She doesn't know any different. We order them from a few different places on the internet. Cutemedicalbracelets.com is a good one. She gets them with pretty glass beads. Don't get painted ones, the salt in the skin eats off the paint.

I used to wear a bracelet but have found that, if they do not really look like a medical bracelet, hospital staff do not even look at it and even if they do look like a medical bracelet, they are sometimes overlooked. My hospital recommended a necklace because most of the time my quick trips to the emergency room are lung related and xrays will need to be taken. A medical necklace would be noticed as it has to be removed for xrays. So on their advice, I now wear a necklace that is engraved with:
Cystic Fibrosis
+ medical issues
Call (my doc's tel. #)
IMMEDIATELY!!!
