Medical Transport Plane Crashes

Hey there,

I just wanted to post some news that I heard about this story today. I will say I got this info from a woman at my transplant center - not a doc but one of the therapists. I do NOT know how accurate it is but it is different from the info on this post - so I thought I would put it out there.

She said that the organ on board was a heart by what she has heard that it was NOT lungs. She did say it was 2 pilots, 2 docs and 2 procurement/organ retreival techs or what have you. Not that the organ makes a difference in the tragedy - but I did want to put it out there for those that thought it was lungs for a CF patient - if what the therapist told me is true that would NOT be the case.

Either way - I do NOT know as I do NOT watch the news - I KNOW I am a bad citizen lol - but I just wanted to put that out there for those that were in the know or wanted to look into it further.

Take Care and have a good day.

Again...not that it makes a difference what type of organ it was, but I live in WI (30 miiles north of Milwaukee), and on last nights local news, they interviewed the daughter of the donor and she did confirm that they were lungs. Everything else (except the pancreas) did get transplanted. The donor was a 48 year old woman who had a stroke.

Kris 29 with CF, married, mom to 4 month old son (no CF)!!

Very nice to know the truth - sad situation in all regardless of the organ.

Glad to know that every other organ made it to the destination and went through as it was supposed too.

Take Care,
Lindsey

The only thing i know is that one of the surgeons was a fellow Canadian from Alberta. Regardless of that, the whole thing is extremely sad and it's unfortunate that it happened. I sincerely hope that the patient receives his new organ in due time and that he holds on until!
