Medicare Part D

Anything that is nebulized does fall under part B, not D. That is correct, duonebs, pulmozyme, TOBI etc are covered as part B. Know that every drug isn't covered, particularly Cayston...I am still waiting for that one to finally be covered under part B (it's just a slow process, it will eventually be covered, but you know how slow anything related to the gov't is). You are also right that it covers 80% with 20% remaining, which is picked up by the supplemental plan if you have one. I opted for a supplemental plan that covers the remaining 20%, worth every penny as I have the original Medicare coverage with part D and a supplemental. I would never be able to afford the 20% left otherwise. Hope this helps...

Tom,
The plans we were looking at (Part D) listed Pulmozyme, TOBI and Caysten as being covered. But I'm not sure how meds that are made for IV yet used for inhalation in CF would be covered.
It depends on the coverage that you want. If you want coverage throughout the doughnut hole, it will cost more. If you don't elect for this type of coverage, you will find that you will hit that hole fairly quickly...CF meds are soo expensive! If you don't make much money, you may qualify for extra help for your prescriptions. Definitely worth looking into. Go to Medicare.gov and search for the Part D insurance plans for your area. Definitely do the research before you choose, not all plans are the same or cover the same drugs. Look at the formulary, closely to see if your meds are covered. The site has a tool where you can compare costs between companies...you enter your drugs and a ballpark figure is given for expenses for the year. Most importantly, you will find out what level of coverage your drugs fall under with each specific company.

Good luck, if you have any questions, just holler!
