I am classified disabled by SSA, and have received Medicare for I can't remember how long. Today I find out that my Medicare was terminated at the end of March...I guess it wasn't important enough for anyone to notify me about it

After calling both Medicare and SSA, nobody seems to know why it was stopped, or why I was still getting letters into June saying my part b was met for the year. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!

I am sooooo mad right now. How do you take the next step, when nobody knows whats going on? Just so flustrating, and I had to vent.

How did you find out? March (no pun intended because of the timing) down to you Social Security office with explanations or whatever you have in hand showing claims being paid. Dont wait.....its government & everything takes time so you need to get on it. Are they still deducting the Part B premium from your check? I bet they are! Good Luck!

That is bizarre...I agree with Jazzysmom, keep pestering them..if you have been getting Medicare parts A and B since forever it just doesn't make sense why they would drop part B...some glitch probably, unfortunately that causes alot of stress on your part. Check to see if they have been deducting part B's premium from your SSDI checks as Jazzysmom suggested...Mine is automatically deducted every month. I hope they get to the bottom of this, it's awful when you have to worry about insurance. Many hugs, Jenn

To anwser some of your questions, I do not get a monthly check as I make too much money from work. The disability does qualify me for Medicare and state Medicaid (as long as I don't make too high of an income), however, and they pay my premiums for me. The way I found out was from my monthly Medicare Summary I got this month for September. It refused everything saying that I didn't have part B. Crazy right? When I called Medicare, she says that I do indeed have part B, so its a mixup. Then, with further "research" says that whoops, I don't have A or B!

So anyway, I talked to someone else at SSA (not local, though, cause all I ever get is a busy signal). Turns out that my local SS stopped paying my premiums to Medicare, so Medicare said "See ya!" Somehow, when I last talked to the local SS (updating paystubs and change of address...nothing major) they terminated my disability status! The national ssa guy didn't know why I was not notified of the status change or the premium stops. He did not have anything in the computer to show that I had missed something in the mail.

So now I have an appointment on the 25th to try and figure this out with the people who screwed it up to begin with if this can even be fixed, or if I have to start all over again with paperwork. The killer is that I'm still getting Medicaid!

There is a lady from the county health department I have talked to before (and is so far the smartest person of the bunch) that I am going to call and see what advice she has for me.

What a drag.

When you got SSDI, someone should have made it perfectly clear with you that you can only make over $590 a month 9 times ever after you get approved for SSDI. It's called a "9 Month Trial Work Period". Have you gone over that amount 9 different months since you were determined eligible for SSDI? If that's the case, then that may be why your SSDI was terminated (if it indeed was).

I do not receive SS money because of my income, but somehow I am in the system so that I qualify for $1 which makes me eligible for Medicaid. The way it is setup, I am in the system, but do not receive monthly checks unless my monthly income falls below the maximum (like when I got laid off last year). It has been that way for me for over 10 years.

While I have had problems with Medicaid over the years, I've not had to worry about my Medicare coverage. My appointment with SS is tomorrow morning, when I will finally find out WHY my disabilty was terminated, and then hopefully it will get resolved, or I'll know what I need to fix it. The sucky part is that losing the Medicare sucks, but losing the disability status sucks worse, cause without it I don't qualify for any other state aid (unless I quit my job and become a pauper).
