i stopped taking advair for similar reasons. i would take it every day, and i would just feel tight and short of breath... so i decided to stop it... my doctor told me to stick with it, so i went back on for a month, but i could immediately feel the difference. so i stopped once again, and i've been off for about a month now.

Print this out and take it to your "all in the head" doctor!

When I first started having issues with Tobi, I was the only one in clinic apparently who had this problem (then I ended up in the hospital SOB from it, and they switched me to Gent iv's and my face started to swell too...fun times). I thought I WAS losing my mind when the Advair inhaler started bothering me, but good to know I'm not the odd cfer out on that one either (sorry to say...).

Funny you should mention Pulmicort, thelostMiler. I had a VERY similar experience when I had it for a nasal neb with my cephtaz, and was careful about not inhaling it too deeply after that first week or so. Thank you for letting me know I'm not crazy on that one, too . I sure would like to know what it is about it (and the Advair) that is the problem!

I can't do Tobi. It sends me into a fit of cough... and not the productive kind.

I also can't do inhaled Albuterol-- it makes me short of breath and so horribly jittery (my legs and hands shake uncontrollable). Even the alternative drug to Albuterol was making me shake. By the end of my tune up in September the only thing they had me on (inhaled) was Pulmonzyne (spell??) and Hypertonic Saline.

hey there!

I have not been on TOBI long or often enough to notice any problems (I've been on it twice through out my life). However, after starting Colistin many months ago, I noticed my reactive airways get way worse. Colistin, while it completely treated my lung infection (no more fevers, etc.), it made me SO short of breath...and it would last through the night pretty badly. My CF nurse suggested I mix my albuterol with the Colistin instead of the sterile water. That has seemed to help much more than just using the albuterol afterwards. Hope this helps, you're not alone...the older I get, the more I notice bittersweet outcomes with meds.

P.S.
I tried Xopenex awhile ago, it seems to be everyone's favorite bronchodialator these days-it did nothing for me. If anything, it made things worse for me. So far, I think I'm the only one in the world who feels this way...to each his own, I suppose.
