HAIRGIRL: yes i have tried MEROPENEM as an iv antibiotic, but i can only tolerate a small amount, otherwise i vomit.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0">
when i was very ill about a year ago, and iv antibiotics were not really working for me anymore, my doctor suggested i started using nebulised antibiotics instead. the drug would therefore go directly onto my lungs instead of into my blood stream.
The first drug i tried was TOBI,which made my lung function readings go up,but i still had a bad infection on my chest. So thats when i tried MEROPENEM. As soon as i started to inhale the drug i began to cough ,which made me cough up sputum. It was as though i could feel the sputum getting looser and looser in my chest! Now when i do my MEROPENEM neb twice a day i get soooo much sputum up, which can only be a good thing!, although i find TOBI a good drug, it does not have the same affect on me as MEROPENEM does. Only two patients including myself use it.im not saying it will work for you as much as it has worked for me, but i just thought i would let you all no my story.
