Hi Kendall,

I'm guessing that you are new here because you had posted on topics not related to yours in hopes that someone could answer your question.

I had started a topic for you in hopes that others, besides myself can answer your question.

You say your sister was JUST diagnosed with CF? Most cases where a sibling has been tested for CF, all the children are equally tested.

When I was diagnosed, they also tested my siblings to double check that I was the only one suspected of CF.

Therefore, to be on the safe side, it would be advisable to be tested.

Another request is if you could introduce yourself a little here for all of us to get to know you. It would be great if you introduced your sister to this site, but would be helpful for you as well..this site offers many things, besides a plethora of information regarding CF care.

Welcome to the site<img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

Welcome to the site Kendall. If ur sister was just dx w/ CF, then it probably wouldnt hurt to be tested as well, especially if you have been having any issues similar to ur sister. However, it isnt required. I have an older brother (we have the same mom and dad) and he has never been tested for CF. It's never even been suspected in him. I have told him that if he wants to be tested I can take him with me to my clinic, but he has never gone. I'm sure a lot of ppl would be shocked that he hasnt been tested at all, but I dont feel like I should force him to be tested just because I have CF. It's an individual decision...some ppl want to know, other's rather not. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Hi Kendall & welcome to the site. I also noticed that you had posted in a couple of other threads. If you want to ask a question, the best way is to start a new topic.

Look directly above the three pictures here above this forum. Next to where it says Doctors Speak Out About CF! cftube. There are a few choices up there- new topic, profile, help, faq and so on. Just choose new topic. You can title it and then ask your question. That way everyone will see it. Sometimes people read the original question or comment, and then not everyone else's responses, so your question might get lost in the shuffle if you include it in someone else's thread.

If your sister has been diagnosed, I would think you should be tested. (assuming here that you both have the same mother and father) When two people who are carrier's of CF have children, there is a 25% chance everytime they have a child that the child will have CF. There are families here who have more than one child with CF.

I look forward to hearing more from you.
