Mild CF?

Help me out here.  I have an 8 year old with a mild form of
CF.  So far the only symptom has been polyps and slightly
underweight.  Does mild CF turn into more severe at some point
or does it pretty much stay the same?  Can the lung problems
start to occur at  a latter date?  I'm wondering what to
expect or not?  Has anyone started our healthy as a child and
then had increased difficulties? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

This is what my son is also classified as, I do know it is
progressive and he will eventually have problems, a lot is based on
what they culture, he cultures staph and H Flu alot, which is the
typical in CF, but they have never treated and said they will not
unless he has some symptoms, once they culture Pseduomoneus it can
be difficult to treat and set up a vicious cycle of infections, but
then they have meds now that erraticate Psedo, I just want him to
be as healthy as long as he can, and when I hear of people in their
30s and 40s that look so good and doing great w/ their health it
gives me comfort

Our current prognosis for our infant is "mild CF." At
this time she is completely asymptomatic, but we are continuing our
every 6 weeks CF clinic visit. I've been told that it is a
progressive, degenerative disease and we should do everything we
can in terms of preventative care for her.<br>

Knowing this doesn't take away the anxiety we feel about her life.
Wondering when she might start to show symptoms, wondering if a
cough is the start of an infection or just a tickle in her throat,
etc. Knowing that the CF diagnosis is "Mild" is a relief,
but like you we wonder, what does "mild" mean and how
"mild" is "mild" and finally, when might
"mild" get worse?<br>

I'm sorry if my post seems neurotic, but the whole "Mild"
prognosis and being asymptomatic to start with just infinitely
increases my anxiety level for my child. That's probably why I eat
all of the time.

I am now in the moderate section but at the low end so that is why I am going on IVs. So yes, it starts mild but progresses to more moderate, then severe.

But no one knows how fast this will happen, it could take a few years, or a very very long time. So the more you do now the more time it might take

I was mild for years with a late dx @ 7. I went to moderte in my twenties & to the lower end of severe in my thirties. It progresses. How quickly does vary!
