that depends on what overseas you are talking about. i don't believe i can ever go to japan and if memory serves me right you can no longer take family to cuba. as far as categories, i don't know what you are talking about. my husband is in the marine corps and they will station us near a cf center. i have to drive 3 hours to get to mine. are you enrolled in the efmp program? they should be able to help you determine where you guys can be stationed. sorry i forgot to add this. when i said what overseas you are talking about, according to my husband they consider hawaii an overseas duty. that's why i worded it like that. then again i am a dork sometimes.

Hi Isabella,

With the EFM Program it depends on which branch (some branches do not have categories). We are Navy which has 6 categories and my daughter is in Cat 5 meaning my husband is allowed to perform sea and shore duty here (homesteading), some CFers have Cat 4 meaning that they should live near a major medical facility. We live in San Diego and are lucky to have 2 clinics here (1 military and the other civilian). We have thought of going overseas, but I am reluctant to do so because I feel the US has the best CF care out there, along with the UK and Australia. We can stay here in SD or be stationed basically where we want as long there is a CF clinic. Look at this link below (I know it's long!)and it will give you info for all branches, not sure which branch you are.
