My 4 year-old has always HATED mint. He is also very picky about candy, he will only eat smarties, orange tic-tacs, sweet-tarts, and Pez candy. He was just diagnosed last month, and I wonder if it is that these types of candies dont require enzymes. Maybe they dont upset his stomach?

Both of my kids LOVE mint...but I'm pretty sure it's because of the chocolate that usually covers it!! LOL! (Yorks, mint M&M's, Junior Mints, Andies). They do like peppermints too though. Might just be a candy thing? LOL!

I don't care for mint candies but do love mint and peppermint tea. Those cooling type teas (mint, peppermint, speariment, etc) are suppose to help open the airways temporarily, in an alternative way.

I can't imagine this has anything to do with CF, but could not resist sharing my son's odd tastes.

He has been an avid fan of altoids mints from the day he got teeth; he'll chew his way through several of them and not complain about how hot they taste. For awhile, they were a favorite accompaniment to the nebulizer. He's almost 4 now and has moved on to Pez.

I read once that taste preferences are formed at an early age and babies exposed to spicy food, for example, will tend to prefer it. My son was on alimentum formula (which smells and tastes like it is rotten) as a baby and still finds regular milk a bit bland
