Mirena Birth Control for Cysters?

Thank you guys so much for your feedback. It turns out that my OBGYN recommended doing a hysteroscopy before we changed my birth control. A hysteroscopy is where a camera goes up to see if there are any polyps or fibroids causing abnormal bleeding to occur. It turned out that I had a polyp in my uterus which she believes is causing the abnormal bleeding. I'm going into surgery soon to have it removed.
I've had to go into surgery before for my sinuses to remove polyps, but this is a first for me to have a polyp in my uterus. Ehhh, not so fun.

So I'm sticking with my Kariva birth control pill for now and I was told by my OBGYN doc that after the polyp is removed that it should do the trick and fix my abnormal bleeding. Thank goodness.

I have Mirena. Had it for a year now. I have never had a child and they still put it in. My GYN is not a CF specialist, however we checked with my CF Dr and he spoke to the GYN that deals with majority of their CF patients. Both told me it was a great idea, so my GYN went ahead with it. They never mentioned infection. I love it. I have not gotten any infection at all. I also have bad periods, which the pills helped with. I still have spells of bad PMS, my periods are usually lite, if I have them at all. I felt more comfortable with the plastic Mirena than a copper IUD or the rod in my upper arm.

I also had the Mirena for about two years. Discontinued about 6 months ago because we are ttc. Personally, I liked it for a few reasons: Don't have to think about taking something daily, it stopped my cramping and terrible periods like I had in the past, you can leave it in for up to 5 years. I have not had any children, and my OBGYN thought this was the best option. However my insurance did not pay for it, and it is quite expensive. Other than that,I never had any problems with it. In fact, within a year of having it put in, I was only having periods every 4 months or so, and they were lighter than usual. Good luck.
