Mommy, why do I have CF?

My CF daughter is 3 1/2 yrs. old and she's already starting to ask me questions too. I tell her that God makes everyone special but he chose to make her extra special w/ CF and that mommy or daddy or her will never know why. I believe everything happens for a reason and God has a purpose for her life w/ this. It really helps me by going to church, I've reached the place that I'm not angry and I'm really at peace w/ this situation b/c of my faith. My husband is still pretty angry and upset about it though.

Morgan will be going to preschool 2 afternoons a week starting August 25th and she asked me if she has to take her enzymes there, I told her yes. She said, "I don't care, I said I don't want to take them." She then asked me if she gets to stop taking them when she turns 5 b/c her big sister doesn't take them.

She also has a Build a Bear bunny named Dorothy. Dorothy now has CF too and she does breathing treatments, take enzymes, etc. and we are taking her to clinic next week b/c Morgan's doctor is Dorothy's doctor now too. My husband is really sad by this, it makes him feel like she's starting to realize that she's different than other kids. Not long ago my husband and 2 girls were riding in the car and our older one asked my hubby a question about something and she said, oh, it's like a disease, like you have a disease Morgan. And she said, "no I don't!" My husband said she seemed really bothered by it and she just stared at the floor for a long time while they were driving. These things are coming sooner than I wished they would.

Sorry this is so long!

my son is only 2 months old but I am sure this day comes for everyone... I hadn't thought about it yet but it was nice to read replys so I can have a plan for the day it does come.. In all things I think its a faith based question and you should let your faith guide whatever that is.

Wow, thanks for all the replies. Sorry I haven't responded lately. Abby is in the hospital, she was admitted on the 15th because of a persistent, stubborn cough. It looks like we caught it early, no signs of pneumonia in her chest x-ray. Anyway, it's 2 weeks of sitting in the hospital getting her IV meds.

Sadly, she had to spend her 6th birthday in the hospital. The staff, and of course, our family, made it a very enjoyable day for her. I'm sure she received more gifts than she would have if we were home. We are crossing our fingers that we'll be home on Friday.

Hope you all have a great Labor Day <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
