make sure to get the fortaz in the ball! they can do it either with one of the balls or a push syringe. actually the push syringe might be easier for you. it takes 10 min tops. between the saline flush, pushing the actual medicine, another saline flush and then the heprin. also ask if your doctor and pharamacist is willing to do a dual picc. as long as the pharamacist doesn't want your peak and trough pulled from an actual poke of a vien they can pull from the second line in your picc and that means you don't have to get poked ten million times to get the peak and trough levels every week. lucky me with my last iv's my pharamacist wanted an actual vien poked, so i wasn't allowed to have the dual picc. then again it also depends on what medicines you are on for peak and trough levels. i don't think they do them for fortaz. i know i had them pulled because of the tobra. just ask and they will tell you.

ditto the balls...ok that sounded funny.
they are awesome. have your doc say that bc of your home/stairs...lifestyle...whatver you can't have an iv pole at home and usage of the med balls will make your ivs easier, thus lessening your chance of needing to be admitted (which costs the ins much more) they've even said something like an iv pole at home with a pet, and young children is a safety hazard thus risking further possible injury or accident...
you gotta milk it!

I use ceftaz in my nebulizer ( while breastfeeding) I believe my dr was ok with it for IV's too, he is pretty careful, we couldn't find any issues.
About the baby and the PICC, I haven't had to deal with that with my baby yet, but when I had one around a friends baby, I wore long sleves, when I was using it I threaded the line up my sleeve, under my shirt and into my pants pockt where I ket the meds ( I use the single dose things that have a "baloon"inside) so the baby never saw it, it seems like with my son if he sees it he is obsessed with it, but if I can hide things he doesn't mess with them ( cords, and things that are dangerous to him)
hope that helps
