Many of you probably know this, but I am kinda new so I wanted to share.

I have been drinking an energy drink everyday for the past few years, and during this time I have begun to gain weight. 8 years ago, at the age of 26, I weighed roughly 135 lbs, at 6' tall. Today I have grown to 185 lbs, by eating "Junk" as the Dr had instructed me to, and drinking Monsters, and Red Bull.

I guess they have done tests with Taurine, an ingrediant in Energy drinks, and Cystic Fibrosis. Taurine helps our bodies absorb some of the fats that CF doesn't allow us to.

The catch 22 - The Taurine and Caffine mixture in these drinks are bad for the heart.

If anyone knows about this further I would like to know more.

Like if there may be a pill to deliever 1000 mg of Taurine without mixing it with Caffine in the enery drink?

Yep, you can get taurine at most any health food store. I get it in powder form for the boys...1/4 teaspoon = 675 mg...but they have it in pill form also.
I did see a difference at first in their weight gain. We go to the clinic next week, so we will see if the numbers are still increasing???

I had not heard about taurine and CF testing and correlation..very interesting. I would like to caution you on the energy drinks--they are definitly not good for your heart...

Thank you for this intersting subject.

Thanks for the info... I will check it out.

Yes, because the energy drinks aren't good for the heart I was seeking another form of Taurine Intake... I get 2000 mg per day from energy drinks, so now that I am at weight I want to cut back to 1000 mg per day.

I will also have to seek an intake of artifical energy that is healthy... probably nothing there?

I am drained without them, but I would like to get away from them as well.
