Monthly Medical Fees

Since I started purchasing my nebs in one-month supplies, my monthly bills had run up to 10,000 yen (about $120) a month. When I came home last night with a bag-full of drugs, the wife made a bit of a stupid question "did you go to see the doc, today!", I raised the bag up and said, "Yep, this costed me 10,000 yen!".
Her eyes widened, and she soon said, "make sure you have all your receipts to claim for end-of-the-year adjustments!".
So, this had me wondering, even though I gotta pay so much a month on medicical supplies and doctor visits, am I still getting this service really "cheap", or is this about the average monthly costs in the states (or wherever you are outside the states)?
I'm not taking enzymes, so that doesn't factor in, neither does the tons of supplements, some of which look like horse pills, the wife has me swallowing!
I guess since I never really had to deal with the medical expenses in the states so much anymore, (I did, however have a type of insurance coverage in the states where I had to pay out about $100 for a bottle of enzymes, and get reimbursed, but by the time I was reimbursed, I was already spending another $100 on a refill!) I'm not familiar with what the latest average is in monthly medical bills.

$120 a month for medical stuff is low compared to what I pay. A "grocery list" of refills for me when I'm well usually runs about $260. On top of that there are the co-pays for office visits ($35 a month) and another couple hundred for a month of psych. appointments. Sounds like a lot, but we've learned to make it work. Without insurance I'd be up a creek w/o a paddle. I'm so thankful for the coverage I have. I've seen the statements from the insurance company about what it costs to be inpatient...$65,000. Multiply that times 6 and you see why I thank God every day for not only giving me my daily bread, but enzymes, vitamins, nebs and more.

I haven't added up what I spend, which is irresponsible, I know. But I'm afraid if I actually added it all up, I'd probably cry and then force myself to go back to work full-time. I'd rather just live in the blissful ignorance of debt accumulation. For now anyway.

Sorry, I know that's not much help to you. I AM saving all my receipts for tax purposes though so I'm not ENTIRELY irresponsible. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

$120 doesn't sound too bad to me. I'm not really sure exactly how much I spend in a month. I pay $10 co-pay a month for albuterol and $5 co-pay for Ultrase (I get $20 off using the axcan rx complete discount). I pay $10 for Ranitidine for my acid reflux. For vitamins, it varies. I buy them from a company that usually offers specials, (buy 1, get 2 free) and they usually last a while. I just bought some a few days ago and I think the order was $27.00. My dr. co-pay is $15 for my pcp and it is $45 for the cf clinic. I go to the clinic every 3 months and my pcp every 4-6 months or so. We have drug coverage which is $10 for generic, $25 for drugs on the preferred list, and $50 for drugs not on the list. I don't recall ever having to pay the $50 though. Although our insurance is an HMO (which I know many are not good), it is pretty good insurance. The only thing I hate is having to get referrals from my pcp.
