I guess I will stop the chocolate skim milk, he seems to not mind it too much in juice - Will absolutely not take them in any kind of sauce and now I'm a bit concerned because even in the juice it takes him sometimes 20 minutes to get them down. He is only 2 so I don't think there is a way we could teach him to swallow the pill yet. even when we can sneak it in his juice - he gags and spats - it just seems like there has to be a better way. I assume if he does not gain any more weight by his next apt they will probably put an IV in him?

You may want to post this in the family section. Would probably get more of a response. DS was 3 or 4 when he started swallowing enzymes whole.

My cousin's son, who is a little order, takes his"crunchies" (that's what they call the enzymes on his tongue; that is, his parents open up the capsule and drop the pellets right on his tongue. Never saw this before, but he is majorly pancreatic insufficient and it works for them.

We started giving our dd her enzymes whole in applesauce when she was a little over a year old. She was a champ! We used the Boon spoon: it's a spoon that holds 4oz of applesauce or whatever you want to use. There's a cap for teh "spoon" part and a little hole that the cap covers, take the cap off, squeeze the applesauce (or whatever) onto the spoon, throw a pill in the applesauce and then she would just take them, put the cap back on and throw it in your diaper bag. No more cups of applesauce spilling, no more baggies of spoons... So easy! So when dd was around 2 we decided to just see if she would take her enzymes without applesauce and she was a rock star! We have been "free" ever since!!! Here's a link to the Boon Spoon: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3237146

Helena, what they refer to is sprinkling the enzyme beads on some sort of fruit, rather than a milk based product such as yogurt. Some people are able to just pour the beads into the child's mouth and follow with bottle or breastfeeding. With my son, I used baby food bananas as he disliked applesauce. I'd shoved the spoon with enzymes & bananas into his mouth and quickly follow it with the bottle of formula/milk

Thought I would check back on this and it just seems everyone else has better luck then us. He will not take them with anything if he see's them. Every drink we give him he looks at the bottom of the cup to see if there is beads. If so, he will not drink out of that cup the rest of the day. Any food we give him if he see's one bead that's it he will not eat that particular food for the rest of the day.

The Good news is I have purchased these drink cups that a straw pops up out of the cap. We put his drink in the cup and have some one distract him. then we open the lid so we have the straw's bottom facing up poor the enzyme beads in and put the cup back on. He usually drinks it down with his liquid not noticing and he does not see the beads because they are not on the bottom of the cup but rather in the straw. they told us at this point to put them in anything to get them down; we will know more after his visit tommorow. I swear though he feels heavier to me so I'm hoping for no more psuedomonium and weight gain!!!!
