Hi,

You are picking a really hard time to move out on your own, now more then ever I would think that you need your parents help, at least until you get your transplant and established.....

But if you do decide to move out anyway, I would suggest not moving far from home so if you need help parents can pop over and give you a hand... I would wonder how you are going to pay for your apartment since you are on the tx list I would imagine you are not working.. but I may assume wrong...

Also, I would check into if moving out disqualifies you from any insurance, not sure if you are still on your parents or not.. some states you can be on it till you are 25...

If you can afford to, and you have enough help to manage getting food into the house when you don't feel well, having someone help you cook, clean and do laundry..... Do it.

I love living on my own.... I think it is the best thing ever.. I love my house.. I have a great support system in play, and it is still hard for me, but so far it is managble and I am pretty sick right now...

I can tell you for sure your success will depend on your support you have around you..

Good Luck and Have Fun to me that is what life is all about...

Moving out on your own for the first time can be really exciting, and if you're planning to go with your best friend, that might make it even more fun! I like Jennifer's idea of trying to stay somewhere near your parents though. Even if you wil have help from your friend, it is really really important to have a strong support network all around you. There are so many things that could pop up that you'd never really think of until they happen.

When I first moved out on my own, I did it with my best friend too, but we moved into an apartment that was really close to my aunt and her family - they were able to help me so much and it was a great decision. So yes, it can be done. It does have its challenges though - one recommendation: get an apartment on the ground floor. AND, request a parking spot as close to your front door as possible (you have a disability, so the management needs to accommodate that; don't feel bad about asking). If you can afford it, get an apartment with a washer and dryer inside too. Good Luck <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
