Thanks Amy. I was just shocked to see resistant staph in his medical records and since amoxicillin is in the methicillin family of drugs...

I am sorry to just jump in here like this. But I to was wondering about this. My daughter who has atypical cf . She cultutred clindamycin resistant stapphylococcus aureus. They did not say it was mrsa and also at the time did not treat it. But when I run it on the web as clindamycin resistant staph it always says mrsa? I was wondering why they did not treat it they later after her having pneumonia treated her with cipro but that will not touch staph . but her cough did go away. And now almost a year later she is back to the same thing. So I gues I have the same question when is it considered MRSA? Thanks, Kathy

Kathy,
Sometimes my daughters' report reads that it is susceptible to clindamycin and sometimes it is resistant to to it. It changes from one appt to the other. But anytime that it reads that it is susceptible to clindamycin it also reads 'this mrsa has the potential for inducible clindamycin resistance..."
I would ask your childs nurse or doctor what exactly it means. Is it just staph that is resistant to it or is is mrsa that is resistant to it.
Hope that helps.
