MRSA

That's my question really...

If you've been diagnosed with MRSA.
How did they treat it?
Which antibiotics?
And for how long?
Did the treatment work?

Thanks in advance...

My MRSA is treated with Bactrim. I was on it for about 2 years non stop. As soon as I stopped it (within a few months of doing so) I started culturing it again.

So I guess for me its definitely a maintenance thing, but I know many that use Bactrim only during MRSA exacerbations.

Sorry to hear that you've picked this up. It can be harmless though, I know it was when I had it, like you wouldn't have known I had it!

We did want to eradicate it though to avoid complicated flare ups from regular old colds and coughs, and I had 21 days of fucidin and doxycycline. I'm not sure what that would be in the U.S.A. or if it's similar to bactrim, but it worked for me and it was gone! Lets hope with speedy treatment you might get rid of it, but I personally wouldn't sweat it too much if you don't.

Take care! xxx
