Mucinex?

I take guaifenisen daily. I find it does help me. It is the only maintenance drug I am still on.

FYI: You can get it for less than half the price of Mucinex and without the dyes and crud if you buy off-brands at places like CVS Pharmacy and Kmart:

We don't use any OTC stuff for colds or congestions, but DS LOVES the commercials and we can explain why we do CPT -- to keep out those nasty booger monsters. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My daughter is 5wcf and she takes it occasionally. It definately helps her get the mucus up. It lasts for about 4 hours so we do not give it to her after 3pm because it makes her cough more often and more productively which will keep her awake. She just got over a cold (which turned into the very beginning of pneumonia) and the Mucinex helped alot.

We also buy the generic for half the price unless I can find a coupon that makes it almost free! Just make sure that what you buy doesn't have a cough suppressant in it too bc I noticed that some of the mucinex forms do. You want the kind that just has "guaifenisen" as the active ingredient.

Let me add that you need extra water and salt when taking gauifenisen. You can't cough up the mucus if your body doesn't have the resources to replace what's in there. So if you don't get enough fluids and salt, taking this drug won't accomplish as much as it could/should.
