Dang Man...what's this country coming to??!! First, some girl gets kicked off the plane for coughing so much, now a girl with CF can't go on a field trip?!
Where's the legitimate reason to it!?
Sure ain't a security matter...

At least she's getting 100% back for her trip, the company I used to work at didn't give me back ANY of the money I spent for THEIR company trip!!

Hope things go well with your efforts to justify this!!

I agree with you that she should go on the trip.

But please think of other posts regarding privacy with cf and that not everyone might want to be a "newspaper story"!
So before you are starting something like this, you should talk to her/her family!

I understand that this country seems to lawsuit happy & therefore, many times decisions that are wrong are made to cover liable a$$e$, but what is the reason for not allowing her to go? SIMPLY because she has CF? I also bet that because it is not a mandatory thing by law that they can get away with it. I am quite infuriated at the intitial post, but would like more details before having a coronary!

yes this is a school in ohio, and to the post from Uli, I know she may not want to be publicized for whatever reason, but she was already shown on the news and publicized for not being allowed to go. I just want to get in touch with the news to maybe tell my end of the story about how I was allowed to go on the same school field trips with my cf.

At first it sounds wrong, but after reading the newspaper article, I can see why the school is taking this stance. She also has diabeties....and is doing her work from home this year and "only" goes to school a few days a week for a few hours to "see her friends". The article never said her mother would attend the trip with her and also said they only returned part of the deposit, don't know what that is about. But I can see where a school district would be concerned about her health, if she is not able to go to school everyday, how is she going to be able to walk all around DC..and I bet the real issue, is they are afraid they would be liable if something happened to her and don't want to be responsible for her CF and diabeties.
