Hi this is my first post - I have a 4 year old daughter - Lilianne with CF. She was diagnosed a year ago. Her Drs here in Seattle don't recommend vests until 5-6. Right now we are using a handheld vibrating thing that seems to work and she likes it. Has anyone else had a similar recommendation from their DRs?
Thanks
Sarah

Kelly - Hooray for the positive vest experience and thanks for the picture. What a cutie! Go Cassidie!

Sarah - our Katy got her vest right at diagnosis; she was 3 years and 3 months old and about 30 pounds. If what you are using seems to work and she likes it, then your doctors may be doing the right thing for your particular situation. Others may disagree with me, but to me as long as SOME kind of CPT is being done then that is the important thing, especially since the vest appears to be on the horizon for you. Good luck!

You did it!! And she's adorable!!!

We were in the hospital 2 weeks ago and used the vest there -- they are allowing us to get a super small size at only 15 months because the hospital use was such a success. We also got the Hill-Rom 105, turns out its the only brand that goes as small as 19 inches around the chest.

Oh Yay! Yay for the vest! yay for the pic! Yay for Sponge Bob to be the distractor (in our house he is bob bob). And, I think you guys get the "Cutest "Family" award. How great is it that Dad posted a congrats to mom on getting the pic up. Makes me all misty-eyed. Seriously, that is one ADORABLE little girl! There is NO WAY Emily will have that much hair in the next 6 months.

I am very encouraged that the first session went well. I can't wait until its our turn!

Hi, I am new here. My daughter just turned two in Febuary. She was diagnosed w/ CF as a newborn. How did you get the vest so early? I have been asking for one as my daughter will not sit down long enough for me to use the "manual" chest compression instrument.</end quote></div>

Tell your doctor that the creator of the Vest, Dr. Warwick, recommends them starting at age 1.

You can go to my blog, scroll all the way down to "categories" and click on "Warwick's Letter". Print it out and show it to your doc.

Preventative therapy with CF is what it's all about. As you know, the Vest isn't just a convenience item - it's improved mucus clearance. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
