I had a g-tube for about six months and it did the same thing. It stings, burns, itches, and looks nasty. Do you have a button placed yet, or are you using the long attachment? What I did was take gauze 2x2s, cut a little line to the middle and slide the gauze under and around the button and use a little tape. it kept the plastic from irritating my skin and absorbed some of the leaking stuff. I would just carry a few extra gauze pads and some tape in my purse. I had mine removed because it really wasn't working for me.

How long have you had it? Are you keeping it long-term? If it works for you, i tip my hat to ya. I couldn't hang.

i had a g tube for 11 years and mine leaked alot. I couldnt wear white shirts or pretty silk ones. i had to wear baggy shirts..i offen looked like a hobo. I hated it. i was so embarrassed to go to the pool or swimming with my boyfriend (ex when i was like 8 lol) that i would wear a baggy shirt over it. He never said anything about it. But we were more like friends then anything. thing i hated was burning off the tissue before the mic-key. It hurt so bad

My daughter's mickey button was leaking and her balloon did not have enough water in it. Once we fixed that it hasnt leaked anymore.

When I was a nurse, we actually used silly putty and put it around the g-tube (if it were the PEG type, or foley cath. type, not sure what to do about mickeys though)...many times it worked, the surgeon actually ordered that, when I heard that for the first time I thought he was nuts until he came back with a silly putty container and demonstrated how to put it around the gtube and then he put some drain sponges around it to really secure it. Try it, it might work! Hugs, JEnn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I dont have a mickey! i have the new g-tube... i dont even know what it is called! i think that it came out last year right before i got it in! i didnt even have to start out with a long tube... They put it in and it is permanent like there is no balloon it is a upside down cap that is one the other side of the stomache... on the outside is a rubber piece not hard plastic like a mickey! its wierd but it looks way better than a mickey does! its not as noticable... My doc wants me to have it in till after my tx. which should be awhile yet! my lungs are at like 30-40% right now.. When i get sick i loose alot of weight and i dont wanna eat so that is the only way i get nutrition for a while! so i am not to sure when i am gonna get it out! i hate the stupid thing! i wish i could still wear like tight shirts and white shirts and you know all the cute things that i used ot be able to wear! but anyways thanx for all the input and advise maybe i will give the sily putty a try!! sounds funny but if it works then its worth it right!!!
