My Hospital-Center is closing

Hey guys,
Some of you out there may know that St. Vincents Hosp in nyc is closing. The facility itself is an absolute dump-the people and staff however are amazing.
My cf center is affiliated with St. V's so it will be without a hospital and office until things are sorted out.
Nothing is "official" mind you-but its all over the news and papers that this hosp is closing-when or how is up in the air.

I know the cf center will find another location and are already working to find ways to make this go as easy as possible and care for us all. But it will be messy-there's no way for it not to be.

Its a bit concerning. Not that it has anything to do with my doctor, bc it doesn't. They are as upset as we are. And I'm sure they're scrambling for a solution. But basically if or when this all goes through I'll be without a center or hospital to go to. And it could be a long time before another center is established.

So if anyone is in the same boat as me-what are your plans-(sorry fyi my question mark button is broken-no clue why but really annoying!! ) Are you worried too...Would you consider starting at a new center temporarily...
We'll see where this takes us and its premature to make a call yet, but I think the wisest thing to do would be to have a new center as a base at least and then return when the time comes.

Thoughts....(question mark...)

Hey Christian-

Just wanted to let you know I am kind of in the same boat. I have been treated at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn for my entire life and at the beginning of this year my doctor and nurse moved to St. Vincent's. I haven't even had a visit at St. Vincent's yet and all I am hearing is that they are closing!

Hi to you both, I went for years to Long Island college hospital center (Dr Guisti)who is a great doc. I have been at St Vincents for around 8 years and yes, I am very concerned too. There is really nothing we can do but wait and see how this all ends up. I spoke to them and the whole center will get set up at another hospital (if they close). I feel that it will be messy but I am going to hold out.

I feel so bad for you guys. I will say this: your other option here in the city is also an amazing center with a FABULOUS doctor. We just got a new space generously provided by the BEF, and it's beautiful, although obviously Col Pres has its own facility issues. I certainly hope Dr. Walker and crew can find another place to set up shop and give you guys continuity, but if you have to switch over, even for a short while, know that you will be in GREAT hands.
