Hi all , I'm Shaun; i'm 22 years old and live in Spain.
On the 11th on May 2010, after being in hospital for a month, the time finally came, and they had found a donor. After preparing me for surgery, they sent me down to the operating theatre...
I woke up the next day in intensive care feeling pretty rough, but being able to breathe they kept me in intensive care for 9 days and then moved me up to the aisolation chamber wher I had to stay for a few weeks, but after a week I was up and down in the hospital Gym working out twice a day enjoying every moment being able to breathe. In total I had to stay under hospital supervisation for 3 months.
After that I went home and am now enjoying life every second, doing things I had never dreamed of doing before. My actual lung capacity is 120%
Yes there are times when you feel like you can't go on but you just have to keep at it, as I did and in the end you'll realise that it was all worth it.
And remember "No pain, no gain"
I am so happy that everything has turned out great
