Thank you all for your support. I began looking at the forum in 2006 because I was researching the fact that my son Patrick would have CF. He is a carrier of Delta F508 which was confirmed through an amnio. As I had mentioned...Brian was dx in Nov 2007. When his cough continued to linger, I asked to go to a specialist. The pediatric pulmonologist we saw took a history and immediately ordered the sweat test. The sweat test was positive (108 and 109 were his readings). A blood test confirmed that Brian has both Delta F508 and G85E. There is alot of research on the delta but from what I found, tests are inconclusive about G85E being a "mild gene". The day after we got the diagnosis, Brian was seen at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He was scheduled for a 10-14 day admission. His lung function improved and he has maintained it since. He has also continued with normal growth. He has had oral and inhaled antibiotics since then but no admissions. Patrick also had a sweat test that was negative so I know he is a carrier.
