I know this is a old thread but I am still responding. I tried to force my child and it just didn't seem right. He ate it once I got it in his mouth but getting it in is bad! He is very underweight and close to feeding tube if I don't get his weight up but he just does not want to eat! I let him eat what he wanted for a long time but now we are homebound by the dr so he doesn't get sick because he is high risk so I really want to try to get him to gain weight. My other kids do not have it and my approach with them was that's fine you don't need to eat but I am not giving you something else later you get food at yo next meal. Well this guy doesn't care and could go all day or days without eating. That is obviously not a option, he has gone without eating when giving the chance. He is in feeding therapy but it is not enough any advice?
I like the oatmeal idea any ideas where I can get a good recipe? He does love cereal. When I find something he loves I try to give him probably too much because then he gets sick of it. Thanks

My daughter has had a lot of problems with eating. I recently found this website http://childrenandbabiesnoteating.com/ that has so much information on kids who won't eat (enough), tube feeding, medical testing (to find a medical cause if there is one), and treatment options. It really helped me understand what was happening with my daughter and get the help she needed. I hope it's helpful for you, too.
