My sons sweat test came back 62/ 60. Help!

My sons sweat test was 60/ 62 does this mean he for sure has it? His dr. has refered him to a pulmanery dr. but we can not get him in until 2/22. Is there anything I should do in the mean time?

That would be considered positive for CF, yes. Sorry. Is your son having any symptoms yet? Many babies that are caught by the newborn screening are diagnosed before having any symptoms and so you'd be fine doing nothing more prior to seeing the specialist later this month. How old is your son? Is his poop normal? Is he gaining weight OK?

Thank you for your reply. My son is seven. He has had problems pooping all his life. His poop is very large he has been on miralax off and on his whole life. He has chronic sinus infections and was diagnosed with MRSA which is how we ended up getting the sweat test. He has not really had any porblems with his lungs. However he does get tired after playing hard and takes a rest. He has bad allergies to grass. He was average weight and height but he lost 7 pounds in the last couple of months.
He has just caught a cold and his cough sounds pretty bad. So I am trying not to worry about it till we know more. His ENT wants him on Antibiotics for it but his infectious disesse dr said no more antibiotics so we are at a loss on who to trust.
It's just frustrating to have the sweat test results and having to wait 12 days to see a specialist.

Are you being referred to a CF clinic/specialist? They may want to do a culture of his mucus to see what's growing prior to prescribing any abx. Maybe you could see about getting a CF sputum culture done prior to your appointment to see if he's growing any CF bugs -- MRSA, pseudomonas, steno maltophilia, h.flu...
Maybe you could contact the pulmonologist to see if they can get him in sooner being that he's developed a cough/cold....
