I can't figure out how to send a PM, have only replied to them, so...
Nightwriter and others who use n-acetylcistiene:
Do you use PharmaNAC from BioAdvantex? I got my pulmonologists approval for it and have been using it for about six months (since reading about it on NoExcuses' blog). You mentioned in the HTS thread that it is still being investigated.
I am wondering if we could compare notes:
I read a U.VA study wherein the mice forgot to breathe when on high doses of NAC--a necessary trigger chemical was blocked or not produced. My pulmo said that the dose range of 900-63000 mg/day is fine. I do 2 tabs (1800 mg).
How much do you use and what have you heard in the negative?
Also, I have been eating a lot of food with turmeric, curcumin and oregano (I've got a garden and love Indian food). But I am curious which brand and dose you use for the turmeric.
Thank you!
I also wanted to tell everyone about an herb combo that I used to eat a lot as a kid and recently started eating again. My mom's best friend when I was little was from Lebanon. She introduced my mom to something called Zaatar/Zatar. It is mainly ground oregano and thyme, some salt and sesame seeds too. I buy it off the Internet (DaynasMarket.com) but my mom gets it from Middle Eastern stores in the DC area. You can put it in mayo for sandwiches and on salads. The most popular way to eat it is to dip bread in olive oil and then in the herb. I love it that way, but maybe if you aren't used to it, you would want to do the mayo and salad disguise. (My husband calls it my twigs and seeds.) I eat a couple tablespoons a day with tomato/mayo sandwiches. I think it tastes fantastic and oregano and thyme are considered to have great anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
I hope I don't sound like I work for the Zaatar Importers Foundation ;-) I just think it is great when a medicine is a basically worry-free food.
