Ooooooh careful with those NAC capsules. they can be oxidized which can end up causing a great deal of harm to the body.

Additionally, capsules, at least in the States (I know she is in Canada but for anyone else reading) are not regulated like those supplements in Canada, which doesn't guarantee purity or potency.

I use a very high quality brand. Please show me the evidence that shows which if any NAC capsules are harmful, please. Obviously I would be interested in this information. And you are right, it is imperative to take high quality supplements.

sure I'll post some links

in the mean time you can google basic properties of NAC and see that it oxidizes when exposed to O2.

and i know everyone thinks their supplements are by a reputable company, but it's for this high variability reason that Dr. Moss up at Stanford has chosen Fizzy NAC tabs from Canada where supplements are regulated to conduct his Phase I and Phase II clinical trials.

Feel free to also email him and ask him for his reasoning as well. His credentials are obviously much better than mine. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I'll get you those links though in the meantime

Saveferris,

Thank you. I certainly appreciate your research. I also wonder if you think there is a conflict of interest when a doctor is selling supplements. Or am I wrong and he doesn't have a financial interest. I know you do meticulous research so I am interested in what you think. Because if the doctor does profit, it doesn't necessarily mean something isn't of high quality. But it is also doesn't mean something else is of a low quality either. Either way, I am always open to new information and certainly don't want to take something harmful.

My own doctor is very strict when it comes to choosing supplements. For her purity is utmost, they must be free of chemicals, they must have independent testing and has to have approved by some organization that tests for standardization (forgive me, at the moment I can't recall the name). You can tell, MY standards are much, much lower. LOL. When you takes so many supplements the costs can be enormous. So I try to pick companies that do well in random testing, and choose capsules rather than tablets with binders and other unnecessary/irritating ingredients. Of course, ideally, I'd prefer everything to be independently tested.

I wonder what form of NAC the cystic fibrosis foundation is using in their current study.

Thanks again for any and all info.
