Hi there,

I don't use this kind of neb kit, but from doing a google search, it looks like they are disposable, not reusable. Is this right? What did your doctor say?

All the best,

I did the same thing -- google. I found the company that make them and product literature in PDF format about the nebs, but nothing on cleaning. Did they come with any literature? We use Pari's, which can be boiled. I did try to see if I could boil some freebies that I got from the RT at the CF clinic -- micromist or something like that -- bad idea. They melted!

I know some people put them in the top rack of their dishwasher in one of those baskets people use to wash baby bottle parts. But your dishwasher needs to get really really hot. Plus we don't run our dishwasher every day.

Try and see if you can get the pari proneb nebulizer machine and a couple of the pari nebulizers themselves. You can boil them, and they make the particles smaller to get deeper inside.

I use the pari nebs and I clean them by putting them in the dishwasher once a week and then just rinse them the rest of the time and set them to air dry.

I use really hot water & hold the neb cup with a pair of tongues as not to burn myself. Once a month I put them into diluted bleach & let them soak for a few hours & rinse with the same hot water. I dont use the dishwasher because I dont feel they get as good of rinse as directly under the tap. I use a combo of the sidestream neb & disposable so I dont boil either.

My mom used to clean my nebs in vinager, then I wash with Dawn and boil for 15 min. from 1997-2001, from 2001-2003 I washed them with soap and then put them in the microwave in a baby bottle steamer, from 2003-present I have been doing hydrogren peroxide (as one of the 3 CFF approved methods). Nebs sit submerged in Hydrogen Peroxide bath for 30 min. then are rinsed in sterile water. Sterile water can be created by boiling water for 15 min. My nebs are a lot cleaner - never plugged up and never any visible residue. Please consider that you might be reinfecting yourself with any other method than these three; peroxide, bleach, and alcohol. Also, never use a neb wet! It took me some convincing to make this expensive switch but it is well worth it because I actually get sick much less often. btw, I use Pari LC Plus.

I soak the nebs in rubbing alcohol for about 5-10 minutes, then wash them in really hot soapy water. Sometimes I add a pot of boiling water to the wash water. That's for the disposable ones and I usually use those on vacations or short trips with hotel stays so I don't have to deal with boiling my nebs.

On a regular basis I wash my pari nebs in hot soapy water then boil for 10 minutes. I do this once a day and in between treatments, I rinse them off with hot water.
