Nebbed Mucomyst...

So I hope this doesn't offend anyone. :)

I have asked my daughter's Dr. in Little Rock, AR about the NAC two different times:
1. The first time I asked about 9 months ago because my daughter's naturopath recommended it, he said he thought that the oral form wouldn't have any benefits. He also said that the nebbed mucomyst was used years ago but discontinued. He said it was effective at clearing the mucous but that it stripped the cilia from the lining of the trachea (which if true is a horrible side effect bc as you know it is extremely helpful in clearing mucous.)
2. The next time I asked, right after I watched the videos from the conference, he said that it may have an effect but that he wouldn't know for sure until the trials were done.

So my delimma is that I have seen many of you adults saying that you have benefited from the oral form and I ordered some, but I am leary of giving it to her.
And also, I don't understand the opinion differences with the nebbed mucomyst because if what he is saying is true, why is it still prescribed??
Thanks

I'm sorry-I do not have advice but am only responding to thank you for posting the possible side effects. My new pulm. doctor prescribed this for me but I am in between insurance and they wanted almost $100.00 for this at the pharmacy (nebbed mucomyst) so I declined. But thank you for posting about the side effects~

I have Nebbed Mucomyst for years. I am Now in fact, it tastes
much better than it use to , It works well for me to break
up mucus so it can be coughed up.
It works better for me than Pulmozyme.

I mix 1 to 2 ml of 10%sol with a vial of Albut normally.
If I have a infection and am tight I Neb 2 ml alone.

See Brad this is my dilemma. You are 52, so obviously you are doing fine with it. It is just all so confusing with all the different opinions.
