I want to get a portable nebulizer that I can travel with. Does anyone know of a good one and about how much do they cost?

Hi,
I got a Pari Trek about a month ago just for travel. My insurance actually covers it (I have Medicare, they pay for it by renting it) but I think it costs about $250. There is also a rechargable battery you could opt for, but that is $100 extra. It is very small, weighs about a pound and nice and quiet. It comes with a regular outlet plug as well as one you can plug into your cigarette lighter in your car. I am very happy with it! It is so nice not to have to lug my big compressor when I go away. Thanks for your post, Kim. I wasn't aware of that portable compressor and may order it.
Has anyone heard of or used an ultrasonic neb system? It makes practically NO noise, is light, and has a battery pack. I had one for several years 5+ years ago and had to go back to the old fashion and loud compressor when mine broke and the company went out of business. I'm curious if that technology has been improved and if anyone's using it?

I have an Omron Micro Air. It uses 2 AA batteries and lasts for 4 hours continuos use, but I have used mine for about 6 or so and haven't had to switch yet. It weighs 3.4 oz and is totally silent. It was about $220 and insurance will pay for it. It will work with; Tobi/ Pulmo/ Albuterol/ Zopanex, everything as far as I know.

can the pari trek do tobi??? i actually bought one off of ebay that im waiting to get.. it came with the neb, battery, ac adapter, cig lighter attachment, carry case and reusable neb cup with hose and i paid i think 72 dollars and 12 for shipping and it was new never opened box... ebay has alot of nebs and other medical supplies cheaper if insurance doesnt cover what you need...Melissa
Wow, I never would have thought to look on ebay for a neb! What a great idea. Melissa, my doctor told me it was ok to use the Pari for all meds: pulmozyme, tobi, colomycin, albuterol etc. Jason, I have heard of ultrasonic nebs, aren't they supposed to be very fast? My doc told me that for some reason you can't do pulmozyme in an ultrasonic....did you have any problems with that? I hope you can find a new one!

I do find that it takes over 25 mins to do 2.5mls each of ventolin & atrovent with my ultrasonic neb, plus you have to hold it (you can't hold the mouthpiece in your mouth) & if not held right it drips & finally you can't do pulmozyme (not sure about tobi).
On the plus side it is very quiet and very portable.
I have a profile freeway nebuliser (not sure if they are available in america, I'm from england) and I find that on a fully charged it only runs for two sessions, the manuf. claim mine goes for 40 mins (4 mins over the time stated in their brochure), but I think they must have had no chamber with drugs in on the end, because if it is flashing to say low battery, if I take the chamber off it stops flashing.
How long does the about said run on battery.
