Nebulizers setting off smoke detectors?

Oh the fun of setting off the dorm room smoke detectors every day. One of the few parts of college I don't miss. I'd say realistically the odds of campus safety actually catching you covering your smoke are pretty minimal. I had a lot of friends who smoked and covered their detectors and none of them ever got in trouble (for that anyway ) It's easy, and you can always uncover when you're not doing treatments.

Our smoke detectors also weren't hooked into the fire department, but they did send a message to campus safety. After having to come to my room a bunch of times to shut off the alarm, they finally started shutting it off remotely. Cut down on the beeping tremendously, so see if you can start getting them to do that. Eventually they started turning off the alarm even before I called. Also, our rooms had both the smoke detectors that sense haze and heat detectors. They probably won't let you (or at least they wouldn't for me), but you can try to talk campus safety into letting your room only be monitored by the heat sensors. Good luck!

I don't know if this would work or not, but could you get a table top air filter, turn it on "high" and sit next to the intake side when you do your treatments?

is the detector just one like you would put in your home or is it hardwired into the dorm? honestly if its just one stuck up on the wall like you get at walmart that just beeps, go to walmart and try to find one that only works off heat and not haze and take the dang battery out of the one in your room, or just cover it if it hardwired and put a home type detector next to it, seriously i doubt they would catch you but at the same time the ticket for tampering with one of those things is pretty steep, if a firemarshall sees it like that your goose is cooked
