Hey. I will be moving from Austin TX to San Antonio TX in the next 5 weeks for college and have attempted research on doctors to transfer care before the move and it has been a mess of a process and so far failed. Well i'm pretty sick with an infection causingsome blood streaked mucus, fever, difficulty breathing, little appetite, some issues with 02 and HR levels and just waking up every 2 hours at night struggling to breathe. Needless to say I need to see a doctor before I end up hospitalized again (just in 2 months ago). My doctor here in Austin is refusing to see me with no explanation; there have been some issues but I figured id be transferring care anyways, and primary care cant see me because my condition scares him and he is uneducated. Does anybody know of a pulmonologist in San Antonio, TX that can see a new patient on short notice? I hope to find somebody who can take me and just drive down to the appointment to hopefully get some care. Thanks for any help!

<span style="color: #3366ff; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">i used to go to Santa Rosa Children's Hospital in San Antonio for many years. although i was a child then, did you check there to see what adult services they have? i believe it's now called "CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System". here is the website (and i see they have a "Chat Advisor" that may be able to help you find someone): <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a href="http://www.santarosahealth.org/body_noadam.cfm?id=202"><span style="color: #ff0000;">http://www.santarosahealth.org/body_noadam.cfm?id=202</a>

Maybe you can go to the ER of the CF center you choose in San Antonio. If you get a consult from the CF pulmonologist, then they may consider you a current patient which would make it easier to get a follow-up appointment. I hope you feel better.

I think you should see your doctor. You have an explanation of your symptoms. You need his support in transfering of care and given how close ATX and SA are to each other he should be able to tell you who to go to in SA. Have you tried looking up on cff.org for the accredited cf centers in SA?

So I just moved into adult pulmonology this year and have seen this current doctor for about four months. Right now I think shes crazy. Shes been attempting to decrease treatments that should NEVER go away including vest and changed me to not the best nebulizer regimin which is probably why im sick. Ive tried reaching the office and have no idea whats going through their minds and their understanding on my condition but im being refused treatment. This has to be some kind of malpractice? I was out of work for 2 months after my last hospital stay and just started back this week and cannot afford the ER or another hospital stay so soon. I feel if I have to go to the hospital this doctor should pay for neglecting my care and allowing me to get sick. I dont know how to explain this situation because it is far beyond my understanding but im hoping to find a decent doctor in SA to avoid payments I cant afford. Not to fond of the adult pulmonology world at the moment. I will go to the ER if it declines any further because im not going to risk my health but would prefer a more subtle option.
