Need a new Pharmacy

I recently got private insurance and they offer a mail order pharmacy to save you money. I have been using that for my maintenance meds but - let me tell you - it is a huge pain. I am on the phone with them constantly about something or another.

I also recently switched local pharmacies, from one chain to another. Basically I had been with the one store for years and their customer service with me got worse and worse - to the point where I felt they seemed inconvenienced by me and didn't value all the business I brought them. So see ya! I've since been getting stuff from the closest place I knew my insurance deals with. It is conveniently located right on my boyfriend's way home from work. The people there are really great; it is actually pretty small for a chain, and the employees there know there stuff which is SO NICE!

I have had some experience with CF Services pharmacy. In my opinion I wouldn't use them unless there is some blaring reason - like they are way cheaper or more convenient. They are just another pharmacy to me.

I use a local mom and pop pharmacy for all of Briceton's compounded medications as CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aide, and so forth won't do compounds. For all of his special medications (Tobi, Pulmozyme, HTS) and non compound medicines (Prevacid, enzymes) I use Medco Pharmacy as my insurance charges a cheaper deductible.

I never realized this, but I use 5 different pharmacies!

I use CVS for meds I might be taking temporarily, like antibiotics. I use a mail order pharmacy through my private insurance for most of my meds. I also use IV Solutions for my eFlow tobra. I used to get my Pulmozyme through them as well, but now my insurance will only let me get that through Caremark. Then I use the ADEK patient program through Axcan where I get my vitamins for free.

I used to go to my local Rite Aid but since I was DX with CF I started using the CFServicesPharmacy for all my meds. It's handier (everything comes right to my door!) and the profits go right back into finding a cure. Most of my meds my pharmacy doesn't stock so it takes them a few days to get them anyways! When starting a new prescription I ask my doc to give me a 30 day prescription and phone the 11 month refills into CF Pharmacy. That way I can get started immediately but simply log on to refill stuff monthly and it just shows up at my doorstep. I haven't had any delivery /hold issues. The one time I thought I might (because of an insurance hold - it was too soon for a refill) I phoned them and they were able to ship what I needed right away & send the remainder a week later. ~Juliet
