need advice to get better veins

hi everyone,
i am in the hospital and they had a hard time putting IVs in my hand because I came in too late to get a pic line done. the next day, they got me in to do a pic line for me. they had to try twice.
my question is: is there a way to get better viens so i won't have to get so many sticks for iv's or pic line? do weights help build up viens?Let me know if there is anything i can do for better veins.
Thanks!

Lifting weights can help your veins but some people are naturally more veiny than others. I've always been quite veiny but evrsince hitting the weights a few years ago my veins went to a new level. I've only had a PICC line once before when I was hospitalised in Canada, that was great only having to be stuck once for the 2 weeks I was in there. Where I live they don't do PICC lines so anytime I'm having IV antib's I get stuck every 3- 5 days if I'm lucky! Anyway about lifting weights for veins, alot of bodybuilders will take from time to time suppliments with AAKG (Arginine alpha keto glutarate) or you can just get it in powder form without anything else added to it. It dilates and expands the blood vessels making them more pronounced and also allows for more blood to flow through carrying more needed nutrients. This creates good "pumps" from working out and make the veins pop alot more. I have taken this without any problems (though I should really consult my Doc first) but am not sure about women taking it si I'd definately say ask your doc first, and definately hit the weights it probly won't be much noticeable without working out.
