I have got to go back on antidepressants, but all the ones I have taken in the past have given me side effects that I just cannot tolerate. Prozac made me dizzy ALL the time. Wellbutrin was a complete disaster, I couldn't get out of bed for 6 hours after taking my first dose because I was so sick. Amytiptoline give me unending fatigue, I litterally have to drag myself out of bed in the morning. Please help guys! I know that everyone reacts differently to meds but what have you guys taken that you tolerated well?

I was going to say "Wellbutrin!" and that went down the toilet when I opened the thread and read it. Hahaha. Only other one I have ever been on was Celexa. It worked very well for me, but it made me gain weight, which I wasn't thrilled with. I don't believe it affected my sex drive much (if at all), but it was also 6 or 7 years ago, so I may be remembering that incorrectly. Aside from Wellbutrin, that's the best I have to offer you.

I believe my mom is on Lexapro and I'm under the impression it works. I have no further information on that one though.

my friend had very good results with lexapro (some slight stomach problem first 1-2 weeks though)

I have taken buspirone and paxil for anxiety, dont know what it does for depression.

IDeally I would recommend getting into a psychologist who can take what you say about others and use their knowledge to recommend the next one, thats what we did when I took anxiety meds.

seeing a psychologist is a good recommendation, especially to help address the real reasons behind the need for antidepressants. I take Wellbutrin too, Hahaha. Paxil did not work well for me, but you know everybody's chemistry is a little different so it's really hard to make a good recommendation. It's almost like a try it and see kind of thing. One antidepressant that doesn't get mentioned too often is Remeron. It is fairly mild; so mild in fact, that I was taking it WITH Wellbutrin when I was at the real bottom of my depression. Remeron is a good one for CFers I'm told, because it increases appetite - although that might not be a desired effect for some, as Emily mentioned. At any rate, my advice is to definitely get hooked up with a good therapist, especially because it will take awhile to adjust to each medication to see if it actually works and that usually means a few weeks, at least, of side effects before it actually starts working like it should. Sometimes it may seem horrid at first, but you really need to stick with it until your body gets adjusted to it to find out if it really will work for you. That said, if it makes you suicidal or the side effects are unbearable, stop stop stop.

Good luck and keep us posted!
