Need an antidepressant with mild side effects.

One of the things that didn't have icky side effects was Remeron. It actually had a nice side-effect of increasing my appetite ever so slightly. I was taken off it though because it had the potential to cause me to go into a period of rapid cycling (I'm bipolar and have OCD) so what I really needed was a different combo of meds (a mood stabilizer and an OCD med).

Remeron though worked quite well. Nice sleep at night too. No grogginess.

Still, no matter what recommendations we give you, it's best that you talk to your CF doc, and then get a referral to a psych. who has some knowledge of CF, or at least experience with chronic-illness related depression. The anti-depressants that are out there (like the ones you see advertised on TV) aren't always the best for us CFers because we have such a funky body chemistry.

I hope you find the best possible solution for you. Also, don't forget the importance of balanced eating. Bananas can interact with how the body uses serotonin, and that can make you feel pretty darn good too. Not to sound like a food quack, but if I weren't for bananas, I'd be an unhappy camper. They're good for vitamins, have a good amount of calories (a small, normal banana has over 100 calories. The ones in the grocery store are about 2 times larger than is natural for a banana, so they have more calories of course.)

All the best!

Ok, I'm gonna crack open this can of worms because I'm tired and cranky right now. I stated in my original post that I KNOW that everyone reacts differently to everything and I only wanted some suggestions. Yet in two totally seperate replies people have said something along those lines to me. I really hate having to repeat myself. Its probably because of where I work, customers don't pay attention to what I say and I end up repeating myself three or four times. So I would really appreciate it (it is common courtesy afterall) if people would slow down and take the time to really read what is posted. I am not the only one on this board who this happens to either and I am probably not the only one who gets a little annoyed with it. So if I have made anyone mad or offended anyone I appologize, but like I said, it is common courtesy.

Thanks for the suggestions. Cymbalta is supposed to help with pain too isn't it? Like headaches and such? That might be good for me. Now when the heck do I have time to get to the doctor????</end quote></div>

Yes, cymbalta can also help with pain...so thinking back to your post before about the other issues you were having maybe that would be a good one to give a try.

Good luck!
