hi, Danyell, thank you for opening the door for this important discussion. Seems like both the hormonal contraception AND the anti-depressants are working against you and your libido.
There are many different kinds of pills - some are more supportive for sex drive. Hormonal contraception also contributes to vaginal dryness. Might you consider an IUD? The Paragard (<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.paragard.com)">http://www.paragard.com)</a> has no hormones. Women who haven't had a child are now considered good candidates for IUDs and it is an really effective method. PM me if you want to talk about options for contraception - it's my job <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Claudette, I take a Vit B Complex everyday for another issue. So that probably isnt the problem.

Amy, I take Lexapro for a General Anixety Disorder, not really for depression. I'm not sure if Welbuturin fits in that catagory, I could ask. I'm the same way, mind thinks about it, but my body doesnt seem to care. It's like they arent connected..lol. I'm really gonna look into the gels, maybe it will last longer.

Kelli, I was actually looking in the herbal part of the pharmacy the other day. I saw the Horny Goat Weed. I also saw something that claimed to be for women's sex drive. I'm afraid it might interact with my other medicines. How can you find out if there will be an interaction problem? If I could get rid of the pain, it would be a huge help. Because I know it's gonna hurt due to being so dry, so it puts even a bigger damper on desire.

Jenn, I like my GYN and she has come up with things to try, the problem is that it hasnt worked. I think she is out of ideas. I tried KY Gel before and it didnt help.

Laura, I will PM you.

I, too, wish there was a quick fix to low libido. I have CF and am not on AD or birth control pills. I have tried the usual things the experts/friends/magazines recommend with zero luck, but one thing that I discovered recently to 'get me in the mood' beforehand is to read from the Secret Garden books written by Nancy Friday (they are a collection of short women's true fantasies she has collected, written by women and much better than the stuff men write lol). Sure there are downright nasty bits, but keep reading because in between are some milder ones too. I may not have complete control over my body, but I do still have control of my brain. You can buy the books online. You have to work towards making it an enjoyable experience, even if in a non-sexual way...theres nothing worse than feeling 'used'. Even if that means a foot massage from your man afterwards, when he has HIS brain back, at least you also get something out of the deal. It all takes effort but the rewards of the closeness it brings is worth it. Sorry I don't have any advice with dryness as I only get it occasionally (use Durex lube) or when on antibiotics, in which case I take diflucan. Not perhaps due to your birth control pill? I had too many side effects and mood swings from the pill and went off it so now we just use male contraception. Feel free to PM me if you need any more detail.

How is your diet? Are you eating foods that contain essential fatty acids? I know many cf patients have trouble digesting fatty foods; however, efa's help to lubricate your skin from the inside out. I would search vaginal dryness and efa's

On another note, you can buy Tea tree oil suppositories and use them before intercourse. Mama Mia, amazing! Not only does this enhance your love life, this helps women keep the flora healthy too.

If you have a minimal amount of yeast or yeast infection, in a day or so, it will be gone. You will feel like an 18 year old all over again or at least that is what my friends have told me.

I keep a bunch in my fridge and use them a few times per month just to keep feeling healthy(like I am 18 years old).
You can buy them online or at whole foods market.
