If you really want to start "trying," I would do some research on Basal Body Temperature Charting & use an ovulation kit. I bought my testing strips online & they were very cheap compared to going to the store to buy them.

These two things will help you accurately figure out when you are ovulating!

I'm sure the mucinex helps, I just couldn't take it because of my lungs bleeding. Other people didn't have that problem... but now i take the robitussin & my lungs are fine.

Hope that helps!

Hi KLeigh,

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it

Unfortunately I went to c.f clinic today and was told by my doc (which has come as a shock) that he doesn't recommend I get pregnant b/c he thinks I wouldn't cope with the aftermath of pregnancy. As I'm writing this I'm in tears, as I'm been trying SO hard to get myself as fit as possible to cope with a pregnancy. Even though my stats (lung function) are stable and weight fine, he is saying this now... In the past the doc has given my the green light to go ahead with pregnancy but now he is warning me not to do it. I

I'm so upset...ever since I got married I have wanted to be a mothers and give my husband a child. Now I feel this is some kinda cruel joke being played in me.

I'm at this stage in life where I feel this year would be a good time to go ahead with trying to conceive and go ahead with IUI...but now my doc thinks otherwise

All our friends are also getting pregnant too which makes it so bitter sweet for me.

I am so sorry that your doctor isn't on board. I too have had some resistance from my doctor in the past. BUT, YOU KNOW YOUR BODY! If you feel like you can do it & keep up with your treatments when you have the baby then i say.... DO IT!

Have you thought about finding another CF doctor? They are usually far & in between but it might provide another opinion. My doctor in Austin, TX was hesitant when i said i wanted to get pregnant. But then i moved to NC & my doc in UNC is completely on board as long as i keep up my lungs & KEEP EXERCISING!

I know how upsetting it can be to hear that you can't have a child. Literally I know about 10 people who are pregnant & a couple more who just had their babies. It pains me to thing that I might not be able to give that to my husband...

Anyways - I think that you should do whatever you think is possible for yourself - whether it's climbing Mt. Everest or having a baby It's not like your doctor can REALLY tell you what to do - especially if you are already pregnant. (NOT THAT I'M ADVISING TO GO AGAINST YOUR DOCTOR) I'm just saying sometimes you know your body better than anyone else!

Keep calm & Carry on. That's my motto Have a wonderful day.

Hi Kleigh,

Thanks again for your reply, really appreciate it! You reply was very encouraging to me and just what I needed
I also like the sound of what you said "you know your body the best", I agree with that!

This year feels really right to try and get pregnant and so we are going ahead with it anyway.
Also 3 days ago started using opk...as I don't know what days I'm ovulating. Also I have regular periods.
I've also been off nebulised antibiotics for 9-10 months and only once on antibiotic orals for that amount of time, (except for i.vs back in August last year),
So I feel I'm doing pretty ok considering and hence why it's a good time to try again for a baby.

Also in the country we live in, I don't have the luxury of changing c.f doctors

Thanks again for your reply Kleigh...and I like your motto too
