I love being a red head, I have very fair skin and blue eyes. I think you would look great with red hair, HOWEVER, it depends on how much up keep you can take, red hair is the quickest to fade so if you don't want to keep it up I would do as Christian said and add red to a brown base, that way when it fades you still have the brown and it will look good, if you do more red, yes it does fade fast but it is also the hardest to get out of your hair so you will always have some red leftover (just very faded).

Wish I was there to do it for you, just remember if you don't want high maintance, a brownish red, if it's alright, I say go for Red/Gold or Red/Brown. I always love highlights with mine. Also as for the shade to do, if you want it to go with your skin and look more natural (not gothic like) stick with 2 shades lighter or darker than your natural, if you need help with that ask a cosmetologist what level your hair is.

Let us know how it goes and post pictures! I'll have to try and find some of when my hair is red. I LOVED IT!

I'm naturally dark blonde, with blue eyes and fair skin.  I've
been going red for about a year now and I love it.  I use the
Clairol Herbal Essence - Ruby Red shade.  It's dark at first,
which is nice for the kind of look I go for.  But its also
nice because, even when it fades, it never completely vanishes so
you end up with a cherry-blonde look.  Mainly, I would
experiment to see what works best for you.  For upkeep, I
recommend using the Pantine Red Expressions shampoo and
conditioner.  It does a good job of keeping your color looking
pure for a longer period of time.

Well, I only have one photo that was taken a while back (my hair is
longer now), and the shot is blurry, but its a good example of the
color.  This isn't a fresh dye job, its been in for a while.
But as you can see, even faded, the shade isn't bad at all.
When I first put the color on, it's a bit more vibrant
than what you see here.  Hope this helps!

Khristina,

I say go for it! I went red earlier this year. My natural hair color is a mousy brown color - it has turned over the years from blond. I had always highlighted and dyed it blonde though.

I had tried doing red several times over the past few years, but never got the right red for me, so I always ended up with blond again. The first part of this year I decided I wanted something totally different I didn't want to be blond anymore. Like others have said - it is just hair so if I didn't like it, it would grow out. I went for a dark/deep red. It is usually VERY red when I first get it done. Almost TOO red but by the second - third week it is perfect.

The one thing I love is that even after several weeks it isn't obvious that I need to get it redone because it is similar to my natural color (once the red has faded).

I personally think going red was one of the best decisions I have made with my hair. Good luck with choosing the right color, and I hope you love it if you decide to go through with it.

Take Care,
Lindsey

if you think you will change your haircolour again anytime soon or wont be able to afford a colour correction or the hair damage if you dont like the colour, then only use a semi for reds. permanent red is an absolute beyatch to get out! i dyed my hair red red/brown for years and this year decided to get the red stripped and go back to close to my natural colour. its cost me an absolute fortune and its damaged my hair really bad.
