My wee boy has had something come back on one of his tests. Apparently my husband or I must be a CF carrier. We have to wait till later this week for further test results, but my head is going at 100 mph! Do both parents have to be carriers for my child to have CF? If it is just one of us does that just make him a carrier? If anyone can explain it in simple mans language I would really appreciate it. Many thanks.

Hi both parents have to be carriers of the CF gene, you then have a 1 in 4 chance of having a child with CF, but if one parent is just a carrier and the other not then no there's no chance.
Hope this helps

Is your son showing any of the common symptons of CF?
What type of test did he have?
What did the test say?

We might be able to help you if you give us some more info.
