Neg sweat test yet still positive?!

We are looking for someone with the same scenario! our son had a negative sweat test with score of 19! we were so happy thinking he was negative for CF. then we were called today and they told us he was positive for CF because he has two CF genes. any word of hope? would this indicate its very mild!? thanks!

Unfortunately the sweat test results are not an indication of severity of CF. We had a similar situation when DS' came back as a normal 32, yet blood tests showed two CF genes.

thank you for the reply... when can they tell severity? is it a watch and wait? can they tell by what cf gene he carries? its so strange we have zero symptoms, no coughing, no salty skin, growing like a weed. its just mind boggling
