Nope, never heard her cough...she ALSO stated that she NEVER does her treatments....that is where I got my info, not by judging what MTV shows...I know that the media thrives on the bad things....duh!!!!

I heard her cough, and it was definitely a CF cough. I also know the editing is how they choose to do it. But she was 21, and smoked, and was still pretty much fine. So her having a mild case is probably a safe bet.

There was an episode of A Wedding Story on TLC a couple of years ago and the bride had CF. I didn't actually see it, but I was told about it. I don't know whether she lived or died (at the airing of the program) or any details though. I, too, was on several shows as a child. Different kinds - my mom was/is a writer and my dad managed a cable company - go figure how I got picked! My mom wrote a booklet on CF. It was published for a while, but when it was time to renew the publication sponsorship, the sponsors decided that they didn't like that my moms mentioned losing friends to CF and the down side (lots of positive stuff in the booklet though), so they went with a booklet that sugar-coated everything. Nothing like giving people the facts, huh? Shouldn't we get ALL the facts. Not just a "you have CF and you die" or "people with CF do treatments." Isn't there a balance?

I have been looking for that Wedding Story since I heard about it. I have yet to see it aired. But when it does in repeats, I'm going to tape it. The couple was Nikki and Dustin. And if I remember correctly, she died not too long after the wedding.

Today I was watching discovery health and it was a documentary on nurses and some of the cases they work with. Two of the nurses were talking about a couple of CF patients they had, one of the nurses commented on how CF patients can be so stubborn because they know the hospital routine so well. I thought it was funny cause I know I can be a bit stubborn while in the hospital.

We have to be stubborn. If we don't, they screw us over. Not everyone gets screwed in the hospital, but given how often we go in, the probability is not on our side. So we have to make sure we know what they're doing, because so often we have run across people who don't. They think they know everything, and they don't have a damn clue. Heh. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

I must say that I think stubborness is vital when anyone has a severe health problem. I have seen some horrible treatment plans, and just crazy guidelines or plans that some doc's give to there patients. I have had crazy recommendations. I come in for a tummy-ache knowing what I want perscribed, and they want to put a scope in me. The med's worked, like I knew they would. I never returned to that doc, I don't care how well she is noted. I just shook my head when she gave all these options of what I need to do. IN my head I am saying..ah..ha..whatever. Give me my perscription and good-bye." Try one thing, see if it works, then we'll talk.

Another thing, it's like don't tell me what to do. Talk to me, not at me. Can not stand that! And I will correct them. My doc whom I have had for ages, awesome. He totally understands that we work together, and he always talks to me, not at me.

stubborness is great..overall I think.
