Negative sweat test?

Hi, I recently had the results of a sweat test back, and they were negative. My doctor pretty
much said "well that's that" even though we are in closer to an explanation for my constant illnesses and ailments..... Everything I've read myself about CF seems to fit in with all the symptoms I've experienced, and I'm left wondering whether it's possible to have cf with a negative sweat test result? I'm still awaiting gene test results. Also, is it consistent with fibrosis to sweat excessively? Thanks for your hell

2 x Negative Sweat Tests

Hello, My daughter has had 2 negative sweat tests! First was when her Guthrie, ( at birth), was positive, they gave her a sweat test, which came back negative and we were told she is just a carrier see you later have a happy life!
When she was 4 - 6 she was constantly sick, it took a change of doctors and a second doctor to say," I don't know what is wrong with your daughter", for her to get an appointment to see a Pulmonary Specialist at the WCH.
After a second sweat test ( Negative), and another 9months of trying to find out what was wrong with her, he tested her sputum. It showed ,"Pseudomonis", which we were then told that you only can get if you are immune compromised eg..burn or cancer patient or...if you have CF.
She was 6 years old.

My sweat tests are negative, but I was diagnosed with CF by genetic testing. Some less common mutations produce negative sweat tests. Generally, these are more mild cases. It's good that you are getting the genetic test done. I've read on here that it's become common to only test for the most common mutations with genetic testing. Make sure they're doing a full screen that includes the less common mutations.

Good luck. I hope you get your results soon.
