Nervous

I am nervous about my health all the time. I get so petrified when I don't feel good or my bloodsugars are low or I feel a little dizzy. I get so worked up I make myself sick. It's been happening more and more and am just wondering is anyone else this way? I try to find ways to calm down or distract myself but it's so hard. I am thinking maybe I should go see someone. Any advice guys would help, thanks!!

Try talking to your doctor about anti-depressants, or if you're already taking them, then switching to a different brand or increasing the dose. I remember my doctor saying something about problems like that.

Nicole,
I think a lot of us can relate. I've had anxiety where my heart feels like it's racing and I've even had to pull over to the side of the road until I feel more "calm". This worry can bring on stomach aches (luckily they usually go away).
Having low blood sugars can cause me to be anxious, because feeling shaky, sweaty, irritable, disoriented, etc. can make me "worked up", not to mention other things we have to deal with. If I remember right, haven't you recently been doing tests to be evaluated for tx? That in itself would cause me to be nervous/anxious!
I would suggest talking to the psycologist at the CF Clinic (hopefully yours has one) to start with. This is not uncommon, you are not alone in your feelings and it is very possible that some anti-anxiety or anti-depression type drugs would help.
Also, I'm sure you already do, but deep breathing helps a little when I am starting to feel anxious. Hang in there.

Hi Nicole,

As mentioned above, many people with CF can relate. I have heard good things about antidepressants from others. I've personally had more success with seeing a therapist (mine is a social worker vs. phychologist or psychiatrist). Sometimes she offers ideas of what to try other times she just listens. It's worthwhile for me . . .
