Neuropathic Pain??

I know a cancer patient who minimized the neuropathy typically caused by some cancer drugs by taking lots of nutritional supplements. My recollection is that B vitamins were a big part of it. Those are important to the functioning of the nervous system.

I am not totally sure that I have it yet... but my Dr mentioned it, and my father and I were talking about the possibility during a fishing trip a few weeks ago. I have been having spiking pains in my feet and arms. My father's are in his feet and hands. His father was believed to have neuropathy before he passed in 1975, before they really knew anything about the disease. I am the only person in his side of the family with CF... and neither my Father nor my Grandfather had diabetes... weird. It does look like something I will inherit... I am hoping not.

My father told me yesterday that they would start me out on "Lyrica"... this is yet another incurable disease. It eats away at your nerves to the point where I have seen my father step on a nail and didn't know until he went to take off his shoe... he said that he thought that it was another sharp pain. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but if you think that you may be getting this... get tested... if they catch it early the have the meds to slow the process.

Just a thought, you are not on zyvox (linezolid) are you? My sons both got some neuropathy in their feet after taking zyvox. It went away after stopping the meds, but we were told it doesn't always get better.

zyvox (linezolid)... I haven't taken it, but I will keep it in mind... thank you.

Also keep in mind that my father is 60 years old, and it didn't hit him hard until he was 50... I dont know about my Grandfather... he passed two months after I was born... I believe that he was in his 70's... he would be a little over 100 if he were alive today... so, he had to be in his 70's. I hope that your children are doing better, and there are forms of this that can come and go... that is what my Dr told me.
