so the last few years i've been thinking about changing clinics. i live in louisiana and have always gone to texas for my cf care. i decided to try a cf center in louisiana and i'm so glad i did. i looked on the cf registry and in houston at my old clinic, pediatrics and adult combined they see around 500 patients. at the new clinic, pediatrics and adult i don't think it's even 200. needless to say the cf team is super nice. the facility on the other hand is no where like houston. my mom and i learned more about cf yesterday than we have in 28 years. they were so personable and genuine. yesterday was the first time i had ever had my chest measured. it was also the first time i've ever had to wear a mask. the pft's were similiar, but the breathing technique totally different. the dr. was amazed that i have never been hospitalized, but have had about eight - ten rounds of iv antibiotics and every single bit was out patient. come to think about it, i think the iv's would have worked better. every time i've been on them i've been going to school, working, and taking care of my daughter all while worrying about an iv hook up three plus times a day. i'd get way more rest and treatment if i were in the hospital. not that i want to be in the hospital, but i think it's coming with this new dr. i'm just really excited about my new dr. she has stream lined my treatments so i will be more compliant. i go back late april to see if there is any improvement in my pfts.
